The Sustainable Business Network of Washington (SB NOW) didn’t invent the phrase “think globally, act locally” but we truly believe in it and are making it happen. While the Washington area may not be at the top of the list when people think of “sustainability” we are helping area businesses, government, educational institutions and community groups to make it happen. Demand for our Green Business Certification -- recently profiled in the Washington Business Journal -- is growing extremely rapidly, and we need your help!

Eight out of ten Americans say that they want to support environmentally responsible businesses, but many are simply don’t know how to judge ‘green’ claims. SB NOW’s certification will offer consumers an independent evaluation based on criteria that have been developed by businesses for businesses. Our immediate goal is to certify as many deserving local businesses as reliably “green” and and offer you the assurance that they are acting in a manner that protects the environment through our on-site audit process.

As a local non-profit, the Sustainable Business Network of Washington is in a unique position to work hand-in-hand with local businesses to meet our high standards. Our Green Business Certification program is designed to provide consumers with a trusted 3rd party Green business certification seal of approval, allowing them to purchase with confidence knowing that the business they are supporting with their dollars is operating with a truly high standard for environmental sustainability.

Our Goal is to raise $10,000 dollars by June 30 because we want to ensure we have additional resources to meet the demand for our Green Business Certification after the pilot phase is complete. If we can get one thousand people to donate just $10 we can meet this goal.
