Bethesda is going Green

Bethesda Green will serve as a living model that will sustain the current and future development of Bethesda by reducing the community’s environmental footprint, attracting environmentally-conscious consumers, and promoting an environmental ethic. Through the collective efforts of the entire community, we will help realize the goal of making Bethesda a better place to live and work.

Why Go Green?
An environmentally sustainable community is a place that meets the diverse needs of existing and future residents and where the natural world is preserved and enhanced. These communities provide a high quality of life for all. They are a place where people want to live, work and shop, now and in the future.

These communities do not happen by accident – they require careful planning and must be managed and supported so they can continue to develop in a sustainable manner. Maintaining these communities requires the commitment and investment of every major sector including government, academic institutions, not-for-profit community groups and business.
